How to Make a Chaise From a Twin Mattress

!±8± How to Make a Chaise From a Twin Mattress

Chaise furniture is replete in the furniture market. You can choose from all kinds of designs that will surely fit well with your living room scheme. However, this kind of furniture is a bit expensive.

If you have a spare twin mattress at home that is rarely used, you can actually convert it into a chaise. Otherwise, you can always purchase a significantly cheaper twin mattress and then use it as a chaise. This way, you can exercise your creativity while saving a lot of money.

Here is how you can do this:

Step 1: If your twin bed came with a bed frame, you can still use it. If it does not, consider having one made. There should only be a headboard and a foot rest. If you are having it made, immediately design it into a chaise-like frame. The headboard and the footrest should be sloping. If you are using the old one, make sure the headboard and the footrest have the same height. Cut off the excess if the headboard is taller.

Step 2: Get 6 bolster pillows and some fabric with a good print. It should match with the design of your room. Get 3 bolsters. Lay one on top of the other two so you can have a pyramid kind of look. Adjust the top bolster so it is resting completely parallel to one bolster. Measure fabric and wrap it around this arrangement. This will be the casing of the boslters. Do two casings.

Step 3: Sew the casings and then place two strands on either side of the casing. Place the casing on the assembled bolster. Place the casing with the two strands at the bottom of the two bolsters.

Step 4: Next make the cover of the mattress. Measure the mattress and sew the fabric that will cover it. One done, you can insert the mattress in the cover.

Step 5: Place the frame on the area you want it. Place the mattress first. Next, put the assembled bolster with the two bolsters on top of the other on the side of the arm rest of the chaise. This will create a sloping kind of look to it much like that of a chaise. Secure this using the two strands. Tie it in a pretty knot at the bottom of the furniture.

Step 6: Now attach the other assembled bolsters on the other side of the mattress. Do the same step as the Step 5.
